Cristóbal Pera

Surgery and emeritus professor at the Universitat de Barcelona, Honorary member of the Royal College of Surgeons of England, Honorary Member of the Association of Surgeons of Great Britain and Ireland. Has been Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at the Universitat de Barcelona, president of the Societat Catalana de Cirurgia, president of the National comission for General Surgery and the Digestive System and president of the Advisor Commytee for the Medical Education in General Practice of the European Comunity. His scientific publications are countless, outstanding a monography named Fundamentos biológicos de la Cirugía (1971), a three volume edition for the education on undergraduated Surgery (Cirugía, Fundamentos, indicaciones y opciones técnicas, Ed. Masson, Barcelona) with several printings and the book El cuerpo herido, Un Diccionario filosófico de la Cirugía, published by El Acantilado (Barcelona, 2003), with a prologue from Emilio Lledó. Recently he has become membre of l'Ordre Civil de Sanitat rewarded with the Encomienda con Placa. As emeritus professor has tought several courses on Medical Humanities at the Facultat de Medicina de la Universitat de Barcelona.
