Espaciales III: idea de cambio

A serial event by Carmelo Salazar

<<Espaciales III: idea de cambio, is a place for action, a thought that unfolds over a week of progressive work on location

                    seven days – seven actions

When we observe that the main movement involved in an action takes place once it is already finished... if, instead of ending, we were to continue over a series of days, giving rise to the post-public presentation thought or body, we would be creating a serial activity that would allow us to visit physical and mental spaces in a way that would be otherwise impossible. We would be in places that are only possible if we make them possible, that exist in the doing, not the thinking.

Espaciales III escapes from the concept of 'spectacle' and brings us closer to the life-force/experiential aspects of performative activity. A series of exhibitions based on or found in the displacement triggered by the inertia of experimentation, by the spaces that generate ideas when we touch them, bodies when we experience them >>

The historical context of the mid-20th century and the convergence of different artistic fields have allowed practices that used to act from their own spaces to perform in a single area to create new production mechanisms.  This has been the case in the project proposed by the collective La Porta.  The zone is conceived as a zone in progress, like a metaphor of history, it is built according to the day to day.  In this way, a hybrid plurality of disciplines will take part, like cogs in a machine making the project possible. It's about getting to grips with time.
The interest in the idea of processes and involving the body to express the piece emphasises the idea of physical and mental activity, the transience implicit in representation becomes the driving force of an investigation that is much more demanding and committed within the same process of the work.  The investigation of these artists represents the emphasis on practices such as:  the listening method extolled by Cage.  Or what Morris summarised under the title The Art of Existence, he who dedicates himself to above all, producing forms of experience.  Or the work of Acconci, who worked to emphasise the experience of the body.  But in this case, working from contemporary dance, it's no longer simply about involving the audience in the creation of the work, but also introducing a set of investigations of the physical and psychological limits of representation as a part of the work itself.

Espaciales III is organised within Julio en julio,  a La Porta cycle focusing on the idea of giving voice to artists, beyond the finished work, and publishing these further ideas and experiences of the body.  Espaciales III: Idea de Cambio, generates a meeting among a collective of artists.  A project that favours the condition of dance, pushing changes and turning away from anything fixed. The rest of the cycle focuses on supporting the creative processes of six choreographers who have been in a continuous dialogue with La Porta.  At the same time, we have organised a series of days for discussing the directions taken by La Porta project, its present, its changes, repercussions, needs, issues, questions and possible and impossible futures.
