Joao Fiadeiro

Besides his main activity as a choreographer, dancer and teacher, João Fiadeiro has established himself as a researcher and theoretician. The Real Time Composition method is the centre of his research, which has been slowly but coherently structured and reduced to a system through workshops, conferences and master classes, in Portugal and throughout Europe since 1995. In the 80's he danced with Ballet Gulbenkian and the Lisbon Dance Company in Portugal, and in the beginning of the 90's he moved to New York and then Berlin, where he made contact with the American post-modern and the European new dance movements. In 1990 he founded the RE.AL Company (www.re-al.org) that has been active in the area of the creation and circulation of contemporary dance performances, in the organisation of laboratorial-like events and the development of initiatives related to artistic research. His work has been performed all over Europe, the United States of America, Canada and Brazil. He is a regular teacher and consultant in various international institutions connected with dance and interdisciplinary formation like Forum Dança in Lisboa/Portugal; E.XE.RC.E in Montpellier/France; the TanzQuartierWien in Áustria; or the MA Programme SODA(Solo/Dance/Authorship), at the Universität der Künste in Berlin, Germany.
