Cristian Duarte

has an advertising degree from the Communication and Art faculty at Mackenzie-São Paulo. In 1994 he joined the dance company Nova Dança in Brazil, and in 2002 he completed his training at P.A.R.T.S. in Brussels. Since 2002, he has bee creating and presenting his own work in Europe and Brazil, with works like Middle high tones and Embodied, for which he received the Bonnie Bird Choreography Award 2002. He performed in Document 3 with the Canadian choreographer Lynda Gaudreau/Cie. De Brune. In 2003 he presented the solo Alta necessidade, and was given the the São Paulo Critics Association prize. In 2005 he was awarded the São Paulo Dance Stimulus Award and the Funarte-Petrobras de Dança prize to create Eu sou brasileiro e não existeu nunca and What´s wrong, a project in collaboration with Shani Granot and Peter Fol with the support of Wrong VZW, Bomba Suicida-Lisboa, Monty-Antwerp, STUK Leuven, Werkhuis-Brussels and the Flanders Ministry of Culture, Belgium.
